Evan Wallace returns to teaching

After a three-year hiatus, Evan Wallace has returned to teaching in Seattle, WA. Long regarded as the most analytical of Seattle Tango instructors, Evan brings to all of his classes deep insights from his background as a physicist.

The next 5-week series starts in January 5, in downtown Seattle at the beautiful Belltown Dance Studio. New class series start every five weeks. For the most current information, see Evan's class descriptions and schedule at AllSeattleTango.com.

Argentine Tango Level 1: The Fundamentals

Wednesdays, 7:30 – 8:30 p.m.
Prerequisite: None

This introductory class will focus on the underlying structure of Argentine Tango, with an emphasis on the body mechanics of the individual dancers and the nature of the connection and dynamic between lead and follow. The vocabulary emphasis in this series will be on simple walking and variations. As such, intermediate or more advanced dancers may benefit from this class as well.

Argentine Tango Level 2-3: Beyond Fundamentals

Wednesdays, 8:30 – 9:30 p.m.
Prerequisite: At least one session of Level 1

This series will solidify the concepts learned in the Level 1 classes, and delve further into the structure of the Tango vocabulary, especially as it relates to musical expression. The goal of this series will be to teach students to approach Tango as a true “one-step” dance, where the broadest range of possibilities of the next step are always available at every moment of the dance. Emphasis will be on the close embrace style, but with a dynamic emphasis. After this class, students will be well on their way to dancing social Tango confidently with elegance, simplicity, and musicality, and be well equipped to absorb material from other instructors in a variety of styles. After class, student are invited to join Evan and friends for live music and dancing at the beautiful Pink Door restaurant in the Pike Market.
